I hope this letter finds you well. I know this has been a challenging time for everyone, and we are all anxiously waiting for the day when we can be together again. I want to take a moment to thank you for your support and patience as we navigate through this difficult time. I can truly tell you it has been hard on the teachers not being able to be with the children, but we are dedicated to the continuation of learning.
Next week, the teachers will be sending out video tutorials for the students to watch. We don’t want these videos to be overwhelming so we will start off with a few a week. These videos will be in addition to work that will be assigned. The purpose of the videos if for the children to take comfort in hear their teacher’s voice as well as introducing newer concepts.
Some have asked how many hours a day should the children be working. Of course, it depends on your child’s age but on average they should not be working more than three hours a day. You do not need to make your child do schoolwork from 8:00-2:30pm. I would recommend allowing your child to have breaks throughout the day and give them downtime. This is not just recommendation for our school but rather a recommendation for all students who are learning remotely.
We will be beginning our Easter break on Monday, April 6th instead of Wednesday, April 8th at 12:00pm. We are going to use our snow days for the two in half days we were supposed to be in school in the beginning of the week. We are honoring our Spring break which means we will not be giving online instruction during that time! My prayer is that we can resume classes once Spring break is over, but I am not sure that is the case. If not, we will pick up with online instruction on Monday, April 20th.
Lastly, please email me if you would like more information on online mass being offered. Now more than ever we must continue to pray and stay strong in our faith. St. Michael’s church is offering mass online masses and services. Also, I am looking into additional resources for you and ways we can pray together as a school community.
You are truly in my thoughts and prayers, and I pray that you continue to stay safe.
